Nominations for this year's ARIA Awards have been revealed, celebrating everything that is currently great about the Australian music scene.

The music awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, Greys Anatomy seasons 7 Australia, November 7 at the Sydney Opera House and broadcast the same day on Channel TEN.

Although the hosts have not yet been announced, there is sure to be a great selection of Australian favourite acts who have made an impact over the last year.

The nominees for each of the 31 categories include some of the freshest Australian talent such as Tame Impala and Washington, and also some staples of the Australian music scene including Powderfinger and Kylie Minogue.

It will also be Powderfinger's last chance for a pop at an ARIA Award, The Office 7 dvd Australia, Super why complete seasons Australia, The Office seasons 7 dvd box set Australia, Law & Order Special Victims Unit dvd 12, with the band having just completed a national farewell tour.

Filed under what's new this year are six new categories, four of which will be open for public vote. Music fans across the country will get a say on the recipients of Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album, The Office 7 Australia, Best Adult Alternative Album and Best Breakthrough Artist.

Original Australian Idol winner and current host on The X Factor, NCIS series 8 Australia, Fringe 3 dvd Australia, Guy Sebastian has picked up six nominations for his fifth album, Like It Like That, including Best Pop Release and Best Male Artist.

Also up for an impressive six awards are Angus & Julia Stone, Gossip Girl seasons 4 dvd box set Australia, who are nominated for Best Group and Single of The Year for Big Jet Plane. Meanwhile, Brothers And Sisters dvd set 5 Australia, Greys Anatomy dvd 7 Australia, Gossip Girl seasons 4 Australia, Fringe 3 Australia, Adelaide darling Sia (who hit the global stage in the Six Feet Under finale) is nominated for Best Female Artist and Album of the Year.

After appearing on Spicks & Specks several months ago, Washington has also gone from strength to strength with her debut album I Believe You Liar, which has received an impressive five nods.

Indie staple The Temper Trap, One Tree Hill seasons 8 dvd box set Australia, The Vampire Diaries dvd 2 Australia, who has featured widely on the Underbelly and 90210 soundtracks also walked away with five nominations.

Members of the ARIA voting academy will vote at the beginning of October to determine who goes away with a handful of statuettes.

Public tickets are available through the ARIA website for access to the Opera House forecourt during the ceremony.
