Showtime has cast Brian Cox and Joanne Whalley in two upcoming series, Agatha Christies Poirot dvd 1-12, The Wire 1-5, Agatha Christies Poirot complete series, Merlin 1-3 dvd, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Cox, 64, "90210" box set, Agatha Christies Poirot on dvd, Married With Children dvd, "90210" on dvd, will recur on The Big C as the father of Laura Linney's character. The Big C, Friday Night Lights complete seasons, which premieres Aug. 16, chronicles a woman's emotional ups and downs while battling cancer. Cox joins previously announced recurring guest stars Gabourey Sidibe and Idris Elba.

Whalley has been tapped for the female lead in the Renaissance drama The Borgias. The 48—year-old actress will portray Vanossa, Foyle s War series 1-5, the matriarch of the infamous Borgias. Jeremy Irons was previously cast to play patriarch, Midsomer Murders seasons 1-13 dvd, and one-time pope, Human Target on dvd, Married With Children dvd series, Samantha Who complete box set, Jeeves And Wooster dvds, The Big Bang Theory complete series, Treme seasons 1 dvd, The King of Queens collection, Rodrigo Borgia.
